Phee Ceramics: Re-discovering your creative roots.

Tell us a little about yourself & your business!

My names Sophia, also known as Phee. I’m 23 years old, full time nurse and part time artist. I’ve always been a creative and artsy person for as long as I can remember and playing around with clay has always been my favourite. Making ceramics for me is like my mediation, I’m always creating in my spare time.

What was the inspiration behind the name?

The name “Phee” stemmed from my actual name, Sophia. Its my nickname to close friends and family. My ceramics really represent my personality and creative side, so having part of myself in my business name really seemed to fit.

How long have you been creating ceramics & when did you take the leap into starting your own business?

I have been playing around with clay for as long as I can remember however it was around mid 2020 I started to get more into ceramics regularly. I would always be creating and making a range of different things. As showing my family/ friends and posting pictures on my Instagram, I always got questions about if I am selling them and lots of compliments. That helped to spark my confidence into turning my hobby into a business. Phee has been public since August 21 and is going live December 3rd 21.

What is the benefits to buying local/handmade?

I think there are a lot of benefits of shopping local/ handmade. For example, all of my items are unique and not one is the same. As they are small collections as well, it makes each piece more special and personal. Shopping local keeps your town and community unique. It also helps the environment in so many ways, which is alway a bonus!

If you were to have a coffee with someone who inspires you, who would that be?

Elsa’s wholesome life for sure. Ellie has been one of my biggest inspirations for a long time. I have all her cook books and am also obsessed with her business too. She makes cooking so fun due to her recipes and sells the best accessories to go with it.

Your first drop is coming so soon, what was your planning process with that & why?

I have been planning a good 6 months and still going prior to my first drop. Making sure I set enough time a week to make the ceramics and get them fired in time. Creating different content to post and show case the pieces before the drop. This allows me to stay organised and also gives potential customers what they can purchase.

Do you have a personal favourite piece?

This is a hard one, however from my first collection, I would have to say the mugs are my favourite. I love tea and coffee and drinking out of a cute mug makes it 10 x better.

Where can Franco shoppers find you? How can we get a hold of a piece!

Franco shoppers can find me on Instagram @Phee.ceramics. For my first drop, I will be posting on Instagram when the pieces are live to purchase. This is on the 3rd of December 2021 at 6pm AEST. At this time, payment will be made by bank transfer, however I do have plans for a website in the future.
